Biography: Hillary Wiesner directs the Carnegie Corporation of New York’s Islam Initiative, a foundation programme that aims to enhance the American public’s understanding of the diversity of Muslim societies, cultures and thought. The programme chiefly works with universities and also supports projects of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the USA’s National Endowment for the Humanities. Ms. Wiesner holds a BA in religion from Harvard, an MA on the ancient Mediterranean world from the University of Chicago and a PhD from Harvard’s Committee on the Study of Religion. |
