Gabriele Ziethen

Dr. phil. Gabriele Ziethen M.A. (born 1964) studied Ancient History, Pre- and Proto-History and Classical Archaeology at Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz/Germany and at Albert Ludwigs-University, Freiburg im Breisgau/Germany. In 1990 she received her magister-artium-degree (M.A.) and in 1991 she received PhD at the Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz/Germany with her dissertation about history of Roman diplomacy during the period of Early Roman Principate. From 1992 until 2001 she was employed at the Department of Archaeological Heritage Rheinland-Pfalz/Mainz (Germany). In 2001 she has founded her own academic program AKSUM – Akademische Kurse, Seminare und Mitarbeiterberatung (GbR). In 1997-2009 she was academic teacher at Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz/Germany and at Trier University (Germany). Since she became visiting professor of Jinan University/China and partners in 2002 she also was invited to be visiting professor at Cairo University/Egypt in 2009 and since 2010 she is teaching as a professor and member of collegium at Pomor State University named after M. V. Lomonosov (PGU), Archangelsk, Russia. Until now she is working as an independent scholar, author of professional opinions in Egypt and Russia and also as an author of several national and international institutions, including Museum Peter the Great/Kunstkamera, Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg, Russia) and at Russian Academy of Sciences, Ural Branch/Institute of Ecological Problems in the North (Arkhangelsk). Her comprehensive lecture program, conference contributions and about 90 publications are focused on subjects of Ancient History, cultural history and history of migration, themes of diplomatic and economic history and especially she is researching about the antique history of the Red Sea Region. International references are obvious.
