Basem Fathy

Basem Fathy Is the Projects Director at the Egyptian Democratic Academy, Democracy and Human Rights Activist and Blogger, and Cofounder of April 6th Youth Movement, El-Baradei Campaign and a number of campaigns for Democracy in Egypt. He contributed in training many of democracy and human rights activists in Egypt through a number of training workshops he organized or participated in with a number of organizations work in Egypt. In addition, Fathy worked as a consultant and trainer in the project "Monitoring the Egyptian Parliamentary Elections 2011 by using Maps and Geo-tagging Techniques - U-shahid". He participated in the 25th of January Revolution and he is a member of Revolution Youth Coalition comprised of a number of youth political movements and groups took a part in organizing the events and negotiating the different parties through the Revolution. Basem has been detained multiple times by the Egyptian government before the Revolution—in July 2008, November 2008, and in January 2010. Basem has a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Cairo University, Egypt, where he is also studying NGOs Management. In addition to his blog Basem Fathy writes to Fikra Forum sponsored by Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
