Hannelore DANIEL
Hannelore Daniel is a Full Professor at the Molecular Nutrition Unit, the Technical University of Munich since 1999. She carried her Habilitation and Venia Legendi in Physiology and Biochemistry of Human Nutrition from the University of Giessen in 1989. She received her doctoral degree (Dr. oec. troph) in Biochemistry of Nutrition, from the University of Giessen in 1982. She also obtained a Diploma in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Giessen in 1978.
From 1992 to 1999, she held the position of a Full Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry at the University of Giessen. From 1989 to 1992, she was a Research associate at the School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, USA. From 1982 to 1989, she was a Research Associate and Assistant Professor, at the University of Giessen, and a Resident/Fellow at the Institute of Physiology, University of Glasgow, UK from 1982 to 1983. Prof. Daniel has been a member of the American Physiological Society since 1992, the American Institute of Nutrition since 1992, the German Society of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Biology since 1989, and Board member of the Germany Society of Nutrition since 1992. She was also a member of the Senate commission on food safety (SKLM) of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) from 1992 to 2006, she is a amember of the Board of Directors of The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig, Germany since 2002, an Elected member of the Akademie Leopoldina (Academy of Science), Germany since 2003, she is also an elected member (collegiate) of the DFG Review Board Medicine-Section 4 for Nutritional Sciences since 2004 and a member of the editorial board of European Journal of Nutrition and Pfluegers Archiv. Prof. Daniel was selected for the research fellowship of the Federation of the European Biochemical Societies in 1984, the Justus-Liebig, University of Giessen, Germany in 1988, she was awarded the "Herbert Quandt-Stiftung" Award for Promotion of Nutritional Science in 1989, the Franz-Vogt-Award of the Justus-Liebig, University of Giessen in 1989, the Fellowship-Award of the "American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases" in 1991, the Henneberg-Lehmann-Award of the Georg-August-Universität Goettingen, Germany in 1997, the Pro Meritis Scientiae et Litterarum Award of the of the Bavarian Ministry for Science, Research and Arts in 2003 and the Teaching award of the Bavarian Ministry for Science, Research and Arts in 2004.
