Kenneth Chomitz
Kenneth Chomitz is a Lead Economist in the World Bank’s Research Department. His current work focuses on environmental and spatial economics.
He has worked extensively on the economics of land use change and deforestation, particularly with regard to Brazil. He has also worked on issues of labor and health economics.
Prior to joining the World Bank, Chomitz was Senior Advisor on Human Resources at the Development Studies Project, a policy analysis group in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Previous positions include assistant professor of economics at Boston University, and National Research Council Fellow at the US National Academy of Sciences. He is a graduate of MIT and has a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.
