Work History: Postdoctoral Fellow, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven; Wetenschappelijke Medewerker, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam; Professor, Australian Catholic University (foundation director of the Centre for Early Christian Studies at that institution).
Research and teaching interests: early Christian literary genres, especially homilies, letters, hagiographies, and ecclesiastical histories; mariology; text editions.
Publications: include works on John Chrysostom, Maximus Confessor, Severus of Antioch, Theodoret of Cyrrhus, Sophronius of Jerusalem, Augustine of Hippo; martyr homilies; poverty and welfare in late antiquity; crisis management in late antiquity.
International collaborations: with scholars in UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Georgia, South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Russia, USA; co-founder of the Asia Pacific Early Christian Studies Society.
