Roland Lang
Roland Lang heads the group “Balancing Macrophage Activation” and directs the Micorarray Core Unit at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene of the TU Munich. He graduated in Medicine from TU Munich where he also performed his MD thesis work. After a residency in Medical Microbiology, he started to work on the regulation of host-pathogen interaction during his postdoctoral fellowship in the lab of Peter Murray (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN). His research group at the TU Munich group focusses on factors and mechanisms that inhibit and terminate innate immune and inflammatory responses. He tries to employ a combination of genetically defined mouse models, large scale functional genomics and bioinformatic analysis, to obtain novel insights needed for a better understanding and manipulation of the host-pathogen interaction.
