Samia Mehrez
Samia Mehrez is a Professor of Arabic Literature and Founding Director of the Center for Translation Studies at the AUC. She is the author of Egyptian Writers between History and Fiction: Essays on Naguib Mahfouz, Sonallah Ibrahim and Gamal al-Ghitani, and Egypt’s Culture Wars: Politics and Practice. Her edited anthologies A Literary Atlas of Cairo and The Literary Life of Cairo, in which she has translated selected works by numerous Egyptian writers are published in English by the AUC Press and in Arabic by Dar Al-Shorouk. She has published many articles on modern Arabic literature, postcolonial literature, and studies on translation, gender, and culture.
