Bernd Schleich
Bernd Schleich was appointed Managing Director of Inwent – Capacity Building International, Germany, in May 2002. Born in 1950, he gained a degree in social sciences and started his career with the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft (CDG) in Berlin as head of the environment and resource conservation department, prior to being appointed to the CDG Executive Board in 1992. Bernd Schleich gained considerable professional experience in various German development partnership institutions: During his social sciences and economic education studies at the University of Göttingen, he was awarded a scholarship by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. In 1979 he completed a postgraduate training with the German Development Institute. Between 1979 and 1983 he was the first representative of the German Development Service (DED) in Nicaragua. From 1983 to 1985 he was development policy expert for GTZ and DSE in the field of vocational education and the promotion of small and medium-sized businesses. He conducted numerous studies, worked as appraiser and developed projects in Latin America.
