Kiyo Akasaka
Kiyo Akasaka is the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information. A career diplomat, Mr. Akasaka has served several multilateral organizations in different capacities. From 2003 to 2007, he was the Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
From 2000 to 2001, he served as the Japanese Ambassador to the United Nations. He joined the Japanese Foreign Ministry in 1971 and was its spokesman on climate change issues for many years.
